长句翻译的处理方法：倒置法与拆句法

　　一、倒置法

　　汉语有些长句的表达词序与英语习惯不同，甚至完全相反，这时需要从原文后面 开始翻译。例如：

　　a.-旦掌握了正确的学习方法，学什么都很容易了，这个道理谁都知道。It isknown to all that it's easy to learn everything once the proper way of learning has been ac?quired.

　　b.我们新来的英语老师脾气不好，上课还经常迟到，真不称职。ItiSreallyinCOm- petent for our new English teacher to be bad-tempered and late for class often.

　　c.去年春节去海南旅游时，我第一次看见大海，第一次尝试潜水，当时的情形我依然历历在目 〇 I can still recall the mental images of my first sight of sea, first trying on div- ingduring the travel to Hainan last Spring Festival.

　　二、拆句法

　　由于汉英句式结构的差异，使得在汉语长句英译过程中，翻译公司译员常常需要将汉语的长句 拆分为若干短句，同时注意各短句之间应层次分明，有一定的逻辑关系。例如?.

　　a.面对别人的成功与荣耀，我喝我的清茶，我明白那掌声已有所属，匆匆忙忙赶 过去，不会有成功等着你，还是自己再创业吧，跟着别人永远只能摸着成功的尾巴。 Not dazzled by other peopled aura of success and glamour, YU indulge in my simple pleasure. Clearly aware where the credit goes, I won’t join in the rush in the vain hope of accepting the prize to be handed to me on a plate. The best a blind follower can do is tailing after the win?ners. The only alternative is to create wonders of one’s own.

　　b.每一个具有共产主义风格的人，都应该具有松树那样的崇髙品质，人民需要我 们做什么，我们就会做什么，只要是为了人民的利益，粉身碎骨，赴汤蹈火，在所不 惜；而且毫无怨言；永远浑身洋溢着革命的乐观主义精神。Anyone with the communist ambition should have the noble characteristics like pine trees. And we are willing to do what?ever people need us to do. As long as people benefit from that, we will balk at no sacrifice, e- ven that of ourlives. Moreover, we will never complain about this and be always permeated with the optimistic spirits of revolution.

　　c.接着，他继续设想，鸡又生鸡，用鸡卖钱，钱买母牛，母牛繁殖，卖牛得钱， 用这么一连串的发财计划，当然也不能算是生产的计划。He went on indulging in link?ing. Chickens would breed more chickens. Selling them would bring him money. With this he could buy cows. The cows would breed too and selling oxen would make more money for the money, he could become a money lender. Such a succession of steps for getting rich, of course, had nothing at all to do with production.

　　以上句子在译文中都拆分成好几个短句，层次分明，结构简明，意思清楚，比译 成一个比句好得多。
