古典文学中多个词语表达同义该如何翻译

这类固定结构的特点是，表达同样意思的词有多个，尽管从词形上看存在差异，但是内容上并无很大出入。以“得无” “何以”“得微”和“是以”及其 关联词为例，分析其词形和词意构成的特点，“得无”属于副词性质的结构，常 同表示疑问的语气词“乎”或“邪”相呼应，用来表示带有猜度语气的问话。 问话者一般心中己有基本答案，只是希望对方证实。大致相当于“莫非是”、“是 不是”，因此翻译公司译员在这种需要特别注意。
例1：中庶子曰：“先生得无诞乎？何以言太子之可生也！”（《史记?扁鹊 仓公列传》）这里的中庶子用“得无” 一词，非常肯定地对扁鹊能否让太子起死回生表 示质疑，甚至根本不信。意思是说，“先生该不是在胡说吧？怎么说太子可以复 活呢！ ”译文：
“Aren’t you talking nonsense, Sir? How dare you say the prince can revive?” asked Zhong Shuzi.
例2：晏子被玄端立于门曰：“诸侯得微有故乎？国家得微有故乎？君何为 非时而夜辱？ ”（《晏子春秋?杂篇上》）这是介绍齐景公喝酒之后晚上跑到晏子家里的情景，文中的“得微”相当 于“得无”。晏子身披睡衣，站在门口说：“诸侯难道有什么变故吗？国家难道 出事了吗？您为什么这么晚还屈尊到这里来呢？”这里由于提问对象的地位至 高无上，语气应较为缓和，不宜使用语气强烈的反问句式。另外，“睡衣”也不要采用pajama，而应使用一般性的nightwear即可，以免充满现代气息的词语冲 淡了古文的表达效果。译文：
Yanzi, in his nightwear, stood at the door and asked, <4Are there any vassals staging a coup? Is there anything wrong with our country? What do you condescend to come for so late at night?”
“何以（奚以、何为、胡为、曷为）”属于介宾结构，经常用作状语，其意~ 义可按“以”的词义不同而分为两类。一是把“以”当做“用”来理解，“何以” 相当于“用什么”“靠什么”“怎么办”或“怎么”；二是把“以”当做“因”来 理解，“何以”相当于“为什么”“原因何在”。
例3：昨日山中之木，以不材得终其天年；今日主人之雁，以不材死。先 生将何以处？（《庄子?山木第二十》）原文是说山上的树木还不成材就没有被砍伐，这是因为不材而得以终其天 年；主人决定用鹅来招待客人时，选择了那只不会鸣叫的，却是因为不材而被 宰杀。那么，作为人在成才与不才之间，“先生将何处？”意思是“做出怎样的 抉择？”或“釆取何种策略”，也就是怎样“定位”的问题。翻译时，要体现两 种“不材”之间的对比关系，并将“何以”转换成“什么”。译文：
Yesterday, the tree survived as it couldn^ be processed into useful timber while today the goose is killed because it can’t crow. Then what is your policy, to be an able man or not?
“是以（以是、以此、是用、用是、是故、以故）”，作为连接词，大都由介 宾结构发展而来，相当于“因此”，表示结果。
