习语的译法翻译技巧运用（二）

(1)直译法
所谓直译法是指在不违背译文语言规范以及不引起错误联想的条件下，在译文中 保留汉习语的比喻形象、民族色彩和语言风格。汉语中一些典故性比较强的习语，尤 其是汉英基本对应的习语，在能确切地表达原意和不违背目的语语言文化规范的条件 下，还是以直译为佳。这样既可以使译文保持原文的语言风格在翻译公司译员经常运用，向译文读者介绍源语 文化，又可丰富目的语的文化。例如：
天下乌鸦一般黑：All crows are equally black.
与时俱进：keep pace with times
袖手旁观：standing by with folded arms
地大物博：vast territory and abundant resources赔了 夫人又折兵：to throw the helve after the hatchet同时一些与历史典故有关的习语大量出现在汉英语言中，这些习语我们大都采取 直译的方法。例如：
草木皆兵：every bush and tree look like an enemy 请君人瓷：kindly step into the vat 望梅止渴：quenching thirst by watching plums
(2)意译法
当由于文化差异直译有困难或勉强译出会健读者无法理解时，一般釆用意译法。 意译法是指不保留原文的表达方式，而抓住主4内容和喻义，结合上下文比较灵活地 传达原意。如：
水深火热：live in great misery 出人头地：standout 三十而立：A man should be independent at the age of thirty. 打开天窗说亮话：frankly speaking 不远千里：go to the trouble of traveling long distance 纸包不住火：Truth will come to light sooner or later,同时，来自于汉英习俗差异方面的习语也多用意译法来翻译。最典型的莫过于在 对狗这种动物的态度上。汉民族对“狗”的否定态度的文化心理自古有之。《说文解 字》释“群”字时说“犬相得而斗也”，又说“羊为群，犬为独”。因此，在汉代汉 语词汇中，由“狗”语素组成的惯用语往往多含有贬义，这些词语多表示鄙视、厌恶 之意。例如：
狗眼看人低：be a bloody snob 狗腿子：henchman狗拿耗子，多管闲事：poke one’s nose into other people’s business而西方中的dog与汉语中的“狗”的联想意义完全不一样，西方人都喜欢养狗， 视狗为知己、伴侣，他们给狗上户口，供应狗的粮食，并且还专门辟有葬狗的墓地。 在他们眼中，“狗”是man’s best friend,既可以用来看门，也可以视作人的伴侣和爱 物，他们对于食狗肉很反感。狗在英语中大多场合是褒义，可用来形容值得同情信赖 的人或事情好的一面，这和汉语大不一样。
英语中有关dog的惯用语很多，最显著的是用dog来指人。例如：a lucky dog:幸 运儿；a sly dog:狡猾的人；an old dog:老手；a dumb dog:沉默不语的人；a dirty dog:坏蛋；gay dog:喜欢玩乐的人；running dog:走狗；top dog:胜利者。
Love me, love my dog.爱屋及乌。
