一、数的错误
单复数使用错误最明显的表现是没有做到一致。原著提到“交闻文王十尺， 汤九尺，今交九尺四寸以长，食粟而已”，是说“我听说文王身长十尺，汤身长 九尺，我曹交有九尺四寸多高，只知道吃饭罢了”。赵译（P. 269)为I hear that King Wen was ten foot tall and Tang nine. I am nine foot four inches tall, yet I have done nothing but eat millet，姑且不说古代尺寸和现代英语尺寸转换的问题，foot 和inches -个用单数，一个用复数，显然是不配套的表达，应该统一使用复数 形式以求数的一致。应用翻译理论的首要任务就是要求翻译公司的译者从功能方面去分 析翻译过程中的语言学和心理语言学的因素以及词形变化等等。因此，“富贵 不能淫，贫贱不能移，威武不能屈，此之谓大丈夫”的译文（P. 131) Hecannot be led into dissipation by wealth and rank, nor deflected from his aim by poverty and obscurity, nor made to bend by power and force一all this is characteristics of a great man 中，all this is characteristics 显然应改用复数形式 all these are the characteristics并加上定冠词the以表示特指其性格特征。
二、冠词误用
冠词问题主要表现为不该使用或不必使用冠词的地方用了定冠词，不合乎 英语的习惯表达。原文“今夫鉾麦，播种而耰之，其地同，树之时又同，浮然 而生，至于日至之时，皆熟矣”意思是说“以大麦为例，播了种，耕了地。如 果土地一样，种植的时间一样，便会蓬勃地生长起来，一到夏至便都成熟了”。 赵译（P. 253 )为 Take the barley. The seed is sown and covered in the same place and at the same planting time. The barley will all grow luxuriantly and it will ripen by the summer solstice.在Take the barley中，由于barley并非特定的事物，无须在前 面加the，同时，还应在barley后面加上as an example，意思才算完整。既然是 “很多种子”在一起种植并加以比较，The seed is sown就理应使用复数形式。it will ripen也要相应地改为they will ripen，而by the summer solstice中的定冠词the 也属多余。
三、逻辑不严
逻辑思维不严谨导致用词不准确。原文说“故凡同类者，举相似也，何独 至于人而疑之？圣人与我同类者”意思是“所以，一切同类之物，无不大体相同，为什么一讲到人类便产生怀疑了呢？圣人也是我们的同类”。赵译（P. 253) ^ Thus things of the same kind are all similar. Why should we have doubts when it comes to man? The sage and I are the same kind.由于 same 的东西一定是 similar，而similar的东西则不一定是same的，原译应该为look much alike以突 出外观的相似性。此外，为确保译文表达得完整和严密，The sage and I are the same kind后面应加上of people才能使句子显得完整，或者至少从语言的层面应 该改为are of the same kind才合乎英文的表达。否则，英语读者很难猜到这里究 竟是“什么同类的东西”。
