汉语词语英译时该如何具体化处理？

从语篇的角度来看翻译，我们的视野会更加开阔，翻译公司译员在翻译的过程中思想也会更加清 晰和自由。比如说，我们发现在某个词语翻译上的过分拘谨会影响整体意义的传递，那 么我们就要对这个词语进行灵活的处理。根据语篇的意向来把握词语的翻译，这一点 在汉译英时显得更为重要。
汉语词语概念的内涵与外延之间具有非确定性和模糊性，与英语的概念范畴比较, 汉语比较抽象和笼统，有更强的涵盖力。在较为正式的文章中，汉语往往会选用概念较 “大”的词语以营造气势。在翻译时常常需要把这类词语具体化，否则从英语的角度看 会f空泛的感觉。中央电视台曾经报道过一则新闻，标题是“特色农业担当市场主 角在这里，译者首先需要了解特色农业的具体意义是什么。原来，特色农业指的是 现在的农民不是盲目地种田，而是首先和收购商签订合同，然后根据合同决定种植的内 容和规模。于是译者把这个标题翻译为Contract Farming on the Increase。
例1作为中部崛起的依托，武汉在21世纪的蓝图中，更雄心勃勃地提出了建设 以汽车城、钢铁城、科技城、商业城为主体的四城雄踞的战略格局。（《迈向21世纪 的汉口滨水区》）分析句子中使用了“汽车城、钢铁城、科技城、商业城” “四城雄踞的战略格 局”这样的“大”词，如果直译，会有过分夸张的感觉。
Wuhan, the backbone of growth for the Central Region, will develop according to the 21 st century development plan which identifies four areas of economic focus--automobile, steel manufacturing, science and technology, and trade.
例2当前国家加速实施长江经济带和中西部地区的战略部署，这一承东启西、贯 穿南北的地理辐射优势，使武汉成为众所瞩目的热土。（同上）分析“热土”的涵义不够清晰，译文对此进行了具体化的处理。
译文 Through the development strategy of the Yangtze Economic Belt, economic growth in this inland region is accelerating with Wuhan, because of its geographic privilege, becom?ing the economic focus of the region.
